If I could earn a living doing what I love most it would be helping teenage girls to become confident and comfortable with themselves. The teenage years are a rough time for all of us, but if you suffer from things like anxiety, depression, self-injury, etc. it is even harder. Too often girls fall to the side and are classified as ‘loners’ or ‘misunderstood’ and don’t get the attention that they really need. My ultimate goal would be to help them see how beautiful they truly are and how much they are really worth.
In order to achieve this goal I would start by going back to school and obtaining a degree in psychology. I would like to get this first so that I would be equipped to help them understand why they may be feeling the things that they are feeling. After I have my psychology degree I would like to continue on and get my MSW. I plan to volunteer in high schools at least once every two weeks to give girls the option to spend a school period talking about whatever their hearts desire.
My hope is, that in doing this, I could save a life. Sometimes life is rough. And as a teenager you have many responsibilities and sometimes very little support. When our girls are deemed as ‘misunderstood,’ doing well in school gets that much harder. I want to provide a safe outlet so our girls can grow up strong.
