Throughout my early 20’s I struggled with alcohol and drug addiction. I have experienced many mistakes that have led me to several stints in jail over this time. On October 28th, 2010, I left my girlfriend’s apartment drunk, at four in the morning. I fell asleep at the wheel. My truck went off the road and hit an oak tree, throwing me into the windshield and totaling my truck. It cost me 21 days in county jail at the end of my fall semester. I thanked God for saving my life and luckily I was able to successfully finish my semester. With prayer, counseling, and many long hours of physical activities in the gym I was able to pull through this hardship and quit drinking. My passion for physical health and fitness not only helped me change my life, it saved it. After my life changing event, I claimed my major in Kinesiology and Health sciences the following semester. My dream is to graduate from Sacramento State University with my Bachelor’s degree and eventually continue to getting my PhD in Physical Therapy. I hope of owning a Personal Training & Physical Therapy business in the future. Because of struggles I have experienced and overcome, I have found that having a dream and setting goals has made all the difference. I want to use my experiences to connect with my patients and help them overcome adversity by using healthy exercise, nutrition, and a positive attitude to heal and rehabilitate them.
