The world is full of problems, and it is pretty obvious that they will not all be solved. World hunger, however, is not one of the problems lacking a realistic solution. There are more than enough resources available to allow everyone to feast. We have all heard the devastating statistics about starvation and death, and sadly, they have almost lost their meaning. People all around the world thoughtlessly indulge in elaborate triple digit meals, most without even thinking about the impact that sum could have. The same goes for luxurious vehicles, big houses, and other overvalued possessions. The opportunity cost of wastefulness is immense, and people are still unaware of this. The answer is not in socialism or government programs. The solution lies within each individual, who alone can have an impact. By creating a blog, hosting conferences, speaking at events, and raising a voice, a movement will spark that will put this unacceptable tragedy to rest. People will realize how ridiculous the problem is, how easily it can be solved, and how they can be a part of the solution themselves. This movement will motivate people to pledge to an annual lifestyle cost, live conservatively according to the pledged amount, and watch the rest of their earnings change the future forever. This is a realistic solution. Is unnecessary “stuff” really that important when lives are at stake? Not to me, and I am going to do whatever it takes to inspire others to believe that as well.
