If I could earn a living doing what I love most I would be a traveling physician. Not only is this what I would love to do, but a goal that I am currently striving to accomplish. From traveling to Honduras to visualizing the poverty on the streets of downtown Chicago, I believe that the world needs more helping hands. Most individuals in rural communities have no access to affordable healthcare. My dream is to be able to touch lives and help individuals surpass illness. I am currently a pre-med undergraduate student studying chemistry at Elmhurst College. After completing my undergrad, my next step will be to attend medical school and complete my residency. Upon becoming a physician (finally…), I would like to create my own practice; however, staying in one place would be far too easy. My dream is to be able to travel around the United States, but also to help individuals in impoverished countries. I would first start by participating in non-for-profit organizations such as Global Brigades or Doctors without Borders; however, my dream would be to create my own non-for-profit organization. My non-for-profit would be focused towards individuals affected by intellectual and developmental disabilities. Yes… I know most of you are thinking that it sounds too good to be true. But isn’t that what dreams are: almost too large to attain? I don’t know about you, but I would like to hold my dreams in my hands and I plan to fight till I can.
