If I could earn a living doing something I love, I would have to say it would be working with the elderly. As an adult learner in her 40th year on the planet, I am feeling the value of working in a field I love, rather than being just a slave to the dollar. I want to love my job again.
Planning occasions has always been a hobby for me. No matter what type of function, party, wedding, shower, vacation, whatever the occasion, I have always been able to execute the plan effortlessly. While planning comes natural to me, I also have a deep appreciation of life and enjoying every day. People have told me my positive attitude is infectious and others enjoy being around me.
I would love to incorporate working with the elderly and planning their activities. I would like to have a deeper sense of purpose in my career, to be able to give back. My goal is be able to be an activities director in an independent living facility. I would enjoy interacting with a population that is still enjoying life in their golden years. Providing a service that still challenges and stimulate the senses, this environment would bring a great joy to me. When I decided that this would be the next chapter of my career, I applied to a local four year college to begin the path of achieving my Bachelors in Recreation Management. I can’t wait to make my dream a reality.
