When I was in high school, my dream career was to be a musician. I quickly realized that that particularly career field, doesn’t promise financial stability. I decided on attending college for my backup choice which was computers. I started with a major in Computer Information Systems and the program made me hate computers and anything related to it very quickly. Based on this, I deemed that career path as not my dream job.
I always loved watching crime shows and reading about different court cases and crimes so I decided to look into the Criminal Justice major. I was already so far into the computer major that I chose to add the Criminal Justice and become a double major. I instantly fell in love with the program and anything criminal justice related. The final part is determining where I want to eventually end up later in life.
I decided I want to work in Homeland Security and more specifically, FEMA. I have worked really hard in my classes to keep my grades in the program high. I’ve been looking into applying even though I still have a year until I graduate. I’m super involved in the program as the Criminal justice club president as well as other groups on campus. I use every opportunity given to me to further advance myself into the field of my choice. I know it will take time but I also know that that is where I want to end up. I want to make a difference and help people. I know I can with FEMA.
