As a child in preschool when first asked what I wanted to be when I grew up I initially stated I wanted to be a postman mainly because it was the first thing that came to mind. As I grew older I realized that my passionate love for animals could be translated into a career and I decided that what I wanted to be when I grew up was a veterinarian. This dream has continued on throughout junior high, high school, and now college. While I love animals, and any chance I got I brought home a new pet, I no longer wish to be a veterinarian solely because of that love, but because I want to do everything in my power to help both the animal and the owner. I want to be able to prevent an animal from leaving their family when it isn’t their time to go. I often forget that our pets, which are a part of our family, cannot stay with us forever, they have but a fraction of our lifespan, but as a vet I would have the ability to extend and improve upon that precious life.
