My dream job would be helping people with addictions find a better way of life. This is important to me because my heart goes out to those who feel like the world has abandoned them, and I would like to do my part to show them otherwise. I know that there are many treatment programs out there, but my experience with them is they only take people so far. They might help them detox and introduce them to a twelve step program, but not much beyond that. Many people I’ve met slip back into addiction shortly after completing the program. My plan is to help them stay healthy by helping them get their self-confidence back, to show them that they can be productive members of society. To do this, I want work with schools to help people get their degrees, and with employers to get them working. I feel that if we keep people busy and give them a purpose, the urge for destructive behavior will subside.

I believe I can get this program running without much start-up money, the majority investment will be my time. After earning my own degree and entering the business world, I will work hard at networking and lining up potential employers and schools. Most of this will have to be done in my spare time, but I know in my heart it will be worth it. I know I can’t help everyone, but I want to help as many as I can.
