As a major in Game Art and Animation, and also Game Design, I want to do a lot with my talents. Since discovering the genre of “empathy games” in the June issue of Game Informer, I’ve been thinking of ways I can put my personal experience with depression to even better use. Now, I‘m not saying I would exclusively draw and/or design empathy games, but that I could contribute to the list of games in this genre that already exist or are still in development. Empathy games are used to help gamers cope with an issue, or learn about a condition that they know nothing about. Ultimately, I believe empathy games can use a piece of technology that most of the younger generations enjoy to spread awareness of issues like PTSD, depression, anxiety, or simply survival in a warzone.
