If I could earn a living doing what I love – I would educate those with diabetes, providing them with knowledge of how to take care of themselves. I have been interested in this disease since meeting my Type 1 diabetic boyfriend almost 6 years ago. He has really opened my eyes to some of the hardships that come along with a chronic disease and educating others also living with the disease is something that I would love.
Diabetes is the fastest growing chronic disease in America and is also becoming very common in other countries as well. If I provided training to even a handful of the people with this rapidly growing disease, they could share the information they’ve gained, which could change the world!
To make this dream a reality, it’s important for me to work hard in school. As I’m approaching my final year at college, continuing to learn more about health and health education is a goal that will help me achieve my dreams of becoming a diabetes educator. Another goal that I have is to graduate with a 3.0 GPA in hopes of being accepted into a Master’s program to further my education so I can provide the best care and education for my patients.
