Growing up I remember my teachers asking “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Other kids answered police officer, teacher, engineer and so on. But in that moment I realized I didn’t know what I wanted to do career-wise. Shortly thereafter I realized I enjoyed creating using various forms of art mediums. While in high school, I discovered my main passion in art was for drawing and painting. I begin researching careers in the field of art and the one that caught my attention was a museum curator. A curator’s job is to obtain, develop, and interpret a collection of artifacts or works of arts.
After reading over the job description I figured why not. Not only can I appreciate and learn about works of art, but I can use my creative skills to set up these art exhibits in a way that it’s appealing to the viewer. After working as a museum curator and gaining experience, another goal I would like to achieve is to be a museum/cultural center proprietor. This museum and cultural center would focus on origins of different ethnic groups and how their culture came to be. I also want to showcase how their culture has influenced others on a local and global scale. In doing so, I hope to erase that divide within cultural diversity by teaching others about the beauty of various cultures.
