Scratches on my hands and arms are how I know I’m making a difference; I help stray and feral animals when I can, specifically cats. If I could earn a living doing T.N.R., trap neuter return, and placing animals in forever homes that is my dream. The feral cat population is high in our country and the culture now is catch and kill, an inhumane and highly ineffective method of controlling the growing number of cats.
I would start small, with the mayor and city council to get their approval to end the culling of cats and begin a T.N.R. program; I would also speak with local veterinarians to work out a reduced cost for the program. Once T.N.R. passed locally I would involve surrounding cities to begin this practice and abandon the killing of healthy cats. I would write my State senators and congressmen showing them how county costs for euthanizing the cats have gone down and the cat population has come under control. It would be my hope that all 50 states would employ this method of population control after seeing how successful I was and that T.NR. would go global. I know feral cats are not only a problem here in America but I could set the example for all countries. By lowering the feral cat population it would greatly affect the world because the tax dollars spent on killing them now, and sterilizing them in the future would eventually cease once the colonies die out naturally.
