If I could earn a living doing what I love most, it would be image consulting. I will be starting my third year at Howard University with a major in Public Relations this coming Fall. My plans after I complete my bachelor’s degree in Strategic, Legal and Management Communications is to fulfill my dreams of becoming a stylist. I want to pursue the fashion aspect of a public relations career path. Planning to apply and volunteer with various businesses, I hope to gain skills and experiences that I cannot be taught in the classroom. In March of this year, I was fortunate enough to have been selected as a volunteer stylist in the Howard University’s Spring Fest Trunk Show. During this experience I realized just how deeply I enjoyed constructing and enhancing the images of others. Styling has always been a deep interest of mine to eventually turn into an actual career. Giving back to the community, I would like to create free fundamental workshops for girls, from elementary to high school. Expressing to them that although the media promotes inappropriate clothing, as young women, we can still be beautiful fully clothed. In the process I would like to raise money to purchase gift cards to some clothing stores and provide them for the girls. The children are our future and my message to them would be to “dress for where you are going, not for where you are.”
