I’ve always had a voracious appetite for books. I read anything and everything. As a young teen, I noticed those rich words from the pages of my favorite books were being transformed to the big screen, film. I was hooked, film tells a story from many different perspectives and can reach thousands, even millions around the world. My dream was born, filmmaker.
To reach that goal I enrolled at Penn State to study film. My plan is to travel abroad during my schooling, learn as much as possible, meet fellow filmmakers who are established and share my ideas. Finding mentors in this field is crucial.
I want people to feel something; excitement, sadness, an awareness, surprise, whatever it takes to get them thinking. There are countless ways to express and convey feelings, opinions and sentiments but film is a wonderfully expressive way to inform, teach and inspire the world!
As a filmmaker of documentaries I would find the indigenous stories from the heart and soul of the nation, country, plight or people. My films would be a real view of our world, and the plight of those in need, making it honest and informative.
I believe the key to lasting change is to live it, join in the quest for the solution, when films I create elicit that response, we WILL change the world. Moving one person, making them think, get involved, I will know my work has purpose.
