Growing up, we always hear the phrase “do what you love and love what you do” so naturally I thought long and hard about what I wanted to become and how I was going to earn a living. I chose to go to the University of New England to study neuroscience. I currently conduct research where ultimately I am working with a team to improve common pain killers to work more effectively with minimal side effects. With so many people affected by both acute and chronic pain, this research will touch the lives of many and make a major impact on the world. I want to work in a research institution where everyone shares the dreams and desires to impact the lives of others. So how would I earn a living doing what I love most? I would do exactly what I’m doing right now. I would wake up every day to put on a lab coat and gloves and further neuroscience research to improve the lives of people everywhere. I do what I love and I love what I do and there is nothing I would do differently.
