As a current student who found it extremely hard in figuring out what I actually wanted to major in, I took a lot of things into consideration when it finally came down to declaring my major. I’ve been told many times that if you find something you are passionate about and really love doing then you will never work a day in your life. That saying has really stuck with me all throughout my academic career simply because I want to love my job and not dread having to do the same thing for the rest of my life, which is why I chose Criminal Justice as my career path. I want to do Criminal Psychology mainly to figure out why criminals do the things they do and to establish better preventative methods for such cruel and horrific acts like massive school shootings. I have big dreams on my work impacting the world in such a positive light and it all begins with attending Sam Houston State University, which has the number one Criminal Justice program in the state of Texas. My number one goal and primary focus is graduating college at the top of my class which will then allow me to pursue the career of my dreams, Criminal Psychology. The drive and ambition I have in wanting to succeed and break all barriers and limitations I have been up against as a young black woman in society will most definitely get me there.
