Without hesitation, I would love nothing more than to make a living as a camp counselor for CHSAA Leadership. For those who may be unaware, CHSAA Leadership is an organization which devotes itself to bettering high school students across Colorado who are involved with student council. Having been both a student and a counselor in the program, I cannot stress the importance of the work of this organization any more than I already do. All too often, students take the backseat in life and let life happen to them. I have seen far too many students doubt their abilities and let opportunities pass them by. In fact, I used to be one of them, but my counselor had paved a way for the confidence expel today. As a counselor, I do everything in my power to break the shell which cages the potential of these young individuals. I strive to be that individual who turns the quietest student with the lowest self esteem into the outstanding leader who is not afraid to embarrass himself. Nothing makes me happier than seeing a student crying tears of joy because I believed in them and forced that incredible potential to reveal itself. I have been apart of the organization for five years and have been a counselor for three, so I am definitely past the front door. I may partake in this organization voluntarily, but making it a continuous part of my life is slowly coming true.
