If I could earn a living doing what I love most, it would be creating clothes for the working woman in addition to starting a non-profit geared towards bettering the welfare of women in domestic abusive relationships. Recently, I discovered that my mother was verbally abused in her marriage for 24 years and stayed so my siblings and I could grow up in a two parent home. I witnessed the damage it left on my mother and lack of self-esteem she had about herself. I want to provide women with the ability to regain their confidence and build a better future for themselves and families through my clothing designs and necessary assistance and guidance. I believe the best way is getting them to love getting dressed in the morning.
Some may think clothing, fashion, and makeup is just a girly attribute and has nothing to do with changing the world. Personally I believe when you love what you’re wearing, you embody a sense of confidence and pride within yourself. With a degree in business administration and experience working with an accounting firm, I have gained valuable knowledge on how a business functions and will continue my efforts to achieve my Masters in Business Administration. I will also network with different programs geared towards providing assistance to women who currently are and were in domestically abusive relationships. Maya Angelou left behind get advice, which is to empower each other, empower your female friends, relatives, and even women you don’t know.
