I’d like to become the CEO of Donate-A-Toothbrush (DAT), my own community service organization. In 2011, I created DAT (www.donateAtoothbrush.com) after learning that dental caries (cavities) are the most common public health problem on the planet! From my research, I also learned that the toothbrush is the single most important tool to achieve my dream of a world where no one suffers the pain and disease that arise from a lack of proper oral health. So far, I have collected over 106,000 toothbrushes that have been distributed in 60 countries around the world. If I could make DAT an organization through which I earned my living, then I could augment the relationships I have begun to develop with dentists nationwide, students of all ages hosting toothbrush drives and, most significantly, major corporations to provide thousands more toothbrushes to those who otherwise would have only a cloth or stick with which to brush their teeth. I could also make people aware of this massive public health problem. I could even extend indefinitely my present plans to supply 100,000 toothbrushes a year to a newly opened dental school in Ethiopia, where fewer than 100 dentists are available to serve a population greater than 90 million. My dream is big, but if Donate-A-Toothbrush became my way to earn a living, I have every confidence that one day it will come true and the world would be changed for the better.
