As a psychology major, I naturally have a passion for the field and wish to earn a living practicing therapy and conducting research. I am currently an undergraduate research assistant and am conducting research on the correlation between Facebook friends and face to face interaction. I think this could shed light on the impacts of social media and encourage a balance between technology and social interaction, which has been an issue for younger generations that have grown up using the Internet. As technology continues to advance, it is especially important to take note of its effect on mental health. My goal is to continue to conduct studies related to this and promote the mental health of social media users by sharing what I’ve learned. When the healthy and unhealthy habits of social media use are discovered, we can learn how to improve it and use it in a healthy and productive way.
