It’s a place special to me because it’s my birthplace. As you would imagine my mom’s courageous journey to America was for a chance at a better life. Despite our financial hardships my mother always encouraged me to reach my potential, to achieve and to excel.
My dream as a college student is to offer to the disadvantaged something I’ve always had – Hope. Hope that they can see another day, a brighter day. As a computer science and finance major, I plan to use my technical and financial savvy to start a non-profit foundation that is dedicated to improving the living conditions of the inhabitants of the third world countries to enable them to help themselves.
I envision an online campaign, where people from all over the world can read, learn, then take a proactive stance in helping both the immediate needs they have and enabling the developing nations to be self-sufficient by offering not just money and supplies but their time and their expertise.
Following the example of countries such as Singapore which has transitioned from a third world to a prominent first-world country.
