“Lights, camera, action!” A bead of sweat dripped down, and the lights hit my eyelashes. I took a deep breath and walked onto the stage. My whole body tingled as I pranced across that stage, saying each line with fervor and ease. I was a beam of light. At the end of Pinocchio, the audience stood to their feet and I knew. Since that moment, I knew I wanted to be a professional actress. It is what I do, and who I am. There is something that happens when I am on stage or in front of the camera. It is a feeling of unparalleled freedom. This scholarship would assist me returning to school at Arizona State to finish my degree in theater. I am passionate. I am clear that my abilities as an artist are nothing more than gifts from the Almighty. I act, sing, dance and paint. I am like water; I can ebb and flow to create my environment following the path of least resistance. And letting younger generations know you can make money doing what you love. My art is the armor and shield I need to thrive in the battle we call life. My work will change the world by providing a medium that people are able to connect with one another…letting them all in on the human experience. And I plan to use every gift I possess for as long as I can to create a better life for myself, and generations to come.
