I have had many, many interests in my life: running, basketball, literature, Spanish, to name a few. Yet I don’t believe I have truly pursued my deepest desire, my deepest passion, my deepest love, with vigor and intentionality; I recently graduated college with two Bachelor’s degrees—English and Spanish—but recently I have felt unconvinced that either of those will take me where my heart most longs to go, and that is with Christ. My deepest love and passion is found in pursuing Christ, and in that pursuit I find I am most alive and connected to Him in music, and so it would be my greatest joy to play music, in whatever capacity, in honor of the Lord. My first step in pursuing this passion is to go back to school and work toward a degree in Music Performance and Christian Spiritual Formation at Friends University, my twice-over alma mater, where I know first hand how good and fulfilling both the music and religion departments are. In my time as a student again, I would hope to continue to widen my mind and ideas about life and God, while developing knowledge and skills necessary to make my dream of being a musician a reality. If successful, I believe I could use music to worship Christ in a genuine and powerful way, and by doing so invite others to know Him and love Him in the same way as I do.
