If I could make a living out of what I love doing most, it would have to be working with children in the foster care system. In more detail, specifically being a social worker in that field. I volunteered at a sibling foster camp this summer, which has opened my eyes to many prospects of social work. I would love to help coordinate another event like that and smaller events throughout the year. In order to achieve those goals, I would have to finish my BSW, go on to achieve my MSW, and volunteer at more camps like that one to be able to obtain more experiences.
Children who are in and out of the system are typically separated from their siblings. This results in changes in personalities, birthdays spent apart, and even years spent away from siblings. If I became an advocate for more events for foster care siblings, the world, specifically foster children and guardians, would be impacted tremendously since there are roughly about 15,200 children in Arizona foster care, which I learned at the sibling camp.
