Throughout my entire life, I have been profoundly influenced by music. Even when I was young, I had a passion for learning to play everything from classical to pop and even began to craft some of my own tunes. To me, creating music is so much more than stringing chords together and thinking of catchy melodies; it allows me to tell a story that cannot be told with words alone, to create something beautiful that will have a profound impact on the life of someone I have never met. And although my need to write music will never fade, I have found my true purpose to be teaching music. I would love nothing more than to be able to teach music for a living. Giving another person the ability to express their emotions in a new and unfiltered way makes me feel that I have taken part in something greater than myself. I want to be able to introduce my students to the beauty of music, the way it retells history and connects humans of different backgrounds, the way mathematics and art work seamlessly together to create complex progressions of chords, and the way it preserves cultures around the world while still allowing them to be merged and blended in new and exciting ways. I know that I can change the world by teaching music because all I have to do is change the life of one person and music will do the rest.
