Ever since I was young, I looked at games and dreamed of how they work. In my mind, I always dreamed of making the ultimate game, a game that combined the stories of all games ever made, combining tales of both tragedy and triumph.
I ended joining a class on Information Technology in high school, and even ended up leading a team of students in making a video game. It seemed as though a lifelong dream was coming true, but can I make a career out of that dream?
I can; producers do pretty much exactly what I had done in the game project and many game companies are hiring in that position. It’s a hard position to get, but once you’re in it you’re set for life.
Even the Info Tech course I took in high school played into my goals! The class gave me just under a semester of college credits, a scholarship to Sinclair Community College, and a tremendous resume. Additionally, I got the Dayton-Montgomery County Scholarship, which will help and makes me eligible to get the Mathile College Completion Scholarship to continue at Wright State.
Finally, since I’m going to get a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science at Wright State, I can dual major in both Computer Science and Computer Engineering and get two Bachelor’s Degrees with only one more semester.
I hope to impact the way games are made, to make things smoother, to bring back the heart and spirit of the field.
