All kids have dreams of what they want to be when they mature into adults. Some want to be firefighters, doctors, or even rock star musicians on stage; however, my dream is to become an officer in the United States Air Force. This dream has been mine since I was in fifth grade, when the city of New Orleans was hit by Hurricane Katrina and when the Iraqi/ Afghanistan wars were at their peak. I heard about the humanitarian efforts that were accomplished by service-members and I knew that I wanted to do just that; be apart of our country’s line of defense by becoming a pilot in the US Air Force.
In order to achieve my goals, I must first graduate from a university with a bachelor’s degree and commission as an officer in the Air Force. I am currently attending the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL and pursing a degree in Psychology. In addition to rigorous academics I am also apart of college level Air Force ROTC, a program that builds upon my leadership skills and allows me to receive my commission into Active Duty after I graduate. This scholarship will help me pay for tuition so that I may further my education and fulfill my dream of defending and giving aid to not just our country, but to those in need all over the world.
