My goal is to one day become an internal medicine doctor and travel to unique places to aid and experience different communities other than my own. As part of my goal I initially want to go back to my tribe in Mescalero and establish a huge awareness of diseases and diabetes. Since I am a part of the tribe I hope to earn more of presence of medicine and I am determined to do so since my family there has diabetes. To make my dreams a reality, I’ve been shadowing an internal medicine doctor and observing the field. Seeing other people around the office applying for medical schools I have set some goals. One is to study and familiarize myself with the MCAT this following year and also to achieve well academically. To help me achieve my goals, I am going to a small college so I can get the attention I need for schooling. I believe this is an important step for me since I have moved high schools four different times and have not been in a stable environment for most of my life. With the help of my gifted services coordinators and Doctor Mercer I have decides this would be the best decision for my goals. Also for my one month term “J Term” at Gustavus Adolphus College I will be shadowing Doctor Mercer and other doctors to experience more about this occupation. I hope to one day touch and empower as many communities as possible.
