Going into college I knew exactly what I wanted to do: Become the greatest film director to ever live! I didn’t want to just be any old film director that made a few movies and then quit, I wanted to be one that made inspiring and life changing movies, that made audiences worldwide laugh, cry, and jump for joy! Now after successfully completing my first year of college, my vision remains the same, but I’ve added a few items to my “Job Bucket List.” The University of Georgia inspired me to go that extra mile and venture off onto different paths. Instead of majoring exclusively in Film Studies, I’ve chosen to major in Mass Media Arts, minor in Theatre, and obtain a New Media certificate. Phew! That’s a lot, but I have three years to get it done!
With this creative background I not only want to become a breakthrough and respected African American female film director, but I also want to make positive and everlasting impacts on all forms of media. With this accomplishment, I hope that my success will also allow other minorities to triumph over all obstacles that we are faced with in the media industry every day. I want to continuously push the envelope by dabbling into different realms of media which includes graphic arts, magazine publishing and even advertising! Many people express their creative expertise through only one medium, but I believe that each experience is another chance to grow and learn.
