Obesity is an epidemic, not only in America but around the world. I am very passionate about staying physically fit and believe in the mind, body, spirit connection of each person. Being unhealthy in one area causes an unbalance in the other two. If I could earn a living inspiring others to be physically fit and to trim the world’s waistline, the planet would grow.
In order for one to be a healthy, well balanced individual, one must start learning at an early age. I would start by reaching out to the kids and young people of the world teaching them the basics of good nutrition and exercise, much like the First Lady’s current approach. We know from multiple research data that lessons learn early in life solidifies lifelong progress or decline. I feel, this would be the crucial point to begin.
Next, and a much harder sale, is to convince those of in their 30′s and 40′s, many of whom are overweight or obese, to change their lifestyles and they can live a longer and healthier life. Studies have shown once people reach this age they are less likely to change their habits. Once a person reaches their 50′s it is almost impossible to convince a change. Targeting the middle-age and those in middle adulthood, could drastically improve quality of life for all.
Though, I know this task would be monstrous to undertake, I believe that the overall health of society can be improved one step at a time.
