When applying for colleges my senior year of high school, I told myself that if I did not major in art during undergraduate studies that I would never have that opportunity again. I was not going to let my dream pass me by, by majoring in something as common as biology, education, or business. I am a firm believer that if you love what you do then making money does not matter. As an undergraduate art major, I am making the choice to change the world by helping people to see our world in a new and innovative way and raising awareness. My passion for others and my experience as an artist creating artwork as a visual aid for change and awareness will support my ultimate goal of serving my community. For graduate school I plan to pursue a master’s degree in Food Policy and Applied Nutrition in hopes of becoming a Registered Dietician. Combining my art with the knowledge that I receive with researching the connections between nutrition and chronic diseases I will be able to visually aid in awareness about chronic diseases of aging, cancer, dementia, osteoporosis and macular degeneration in African American women and children. Consistency is key in anyone becoming successful in any activity. With my life goals, I am making a choice to change the world. My passion for art and the health of other has given me the vision to believe, set goals, and work towards making my dreams a reality.
