As a self taught musician, I’ve always tried to avoid having people give me lessons on reading music. I feel it is important sometimes to put down the sheet music from another’s creativity, and start playing in one’s own creativity. This is because I believe that music can only truly capture an artist’s heart if they play on their own terms, without being forced, or having to play a song from someone else’s notes.
My two passions in life are music and to be a good influence to children. I believe that I have a gift to teach children and plant dreams in their minds and hearts of what they could be when they are older. I could teach children how to play music without having to read sheet music, or having to listen to a song to try to play it, because I believe that everyone has musical talent, even though some vehemently disagree.
I will only have access to teaching music to children with a degree in education and music. I believe that I can be a great music teacher, giving lessons on how to read sheet music, playing songs with the class, and then guiding them in creating a song on their own, without sheet music, just to leave room for “accidental” miracles in music. I dream of helping children find the creativity within their own minds, and guiding them on their paths to become great musicians.
