Making a living practicing what I love the most, is exactly what I plan to do with my future. Becoming an orthopedic surgeon would open up many doors that would positively impact others around me. The most important goal I dream about is to provide direct, urgent medical attention in underserved areas, not only in the US, but outside the US, in less privileged countries.
I would love to set up clinics in these areas that would be funded through a special program that gives back to the communities, or a non-profit charity foundation. This would give hope to help those with little to no resources for medical care, while providing the necessary clinical supports on a local level. This in turn would reduce the severity of injuries that if gone untreated, would cause more severe complications in the long run.
Another strong goal is to organize a fun, learning experience for kids interested in the medical field, like a “Medical Leaders of Tomorrow Camp”. The purpose would be focusing on youth with great, bright minds and ideas, but very few financial resources. This would allow them opportunities to discuss and learn about the practice of medicine and how they can become young leaders no matter what their short comings are. These endeavors could help change the world for the underprivileged. This, in so many ways, can help brighten the future prospects of medical field and make urgent care readily accessible to the masses.
