It’s difficult to narrow down one field, as everything about the world is absolutely fascinating to me, but the key thing is that I want to improve peoples lives. When it comes down to it, the thing that I’d love to do is to simply leave a positive mark on the world; whether it be through various medias, sciences or through philanthropy. If I had the time and the resources I’d love to study all fields of chemistry to help protect our environment, cure disease, to assist in renewable resources and find solutions to world hunger. Realistically though, I’d love to search for better treatments to prevent cancer, Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s for example. There’s a constant hunger for knowledge that would only be content if I lived this sort of life. Over the last few years I’ve worked hard to pull my life together, get focused, save up for a vehicle and find an apartment on my own. There’s nothing that can get me down on the idea of reaching my goal of a higher education, unfortunately I couldn’t list off how much I’ve done to reach that goal in this small amount of space. Let me just say this, I’m stubborn and I’m motivated to finally build a foundation for myself after a life of disappointment. Once I get started at UCSD I’ll find the sub-field that feels right, but in the meantime I’m content with the prospect of “saving the world.”
