My dream is to become an illustrator. I want to create my own unique characters and moving stories, and bring them to life through comics. As a kid I grew up on cartoon network, nickelodeon, super hero movies, Manga, and indie web comics and loved them dearly. However, as a young girl the number of female leads was overshadowed by the amount of male main characters. I used to play with the kids in the neighborhood and as the girl I was always roped into the role of the pink power ranger, or the girl sidekick. The all girl crime fighting trio from Totally Spies and the magical powered fairies from Winx Club were my all time favorite shows and I would even purchase the comics for them every time I saw them at the grocery store. I loved to see a cartoon where the entire fighting team was girls, and they could kick total butt while still embracing their femininity. I want to use my stories incorporating cool and strong female leads to become the next generation of role models for girls in an age where we only get one super hero movie after the other.
I have had the joy of experiencing praise from people who have enjoyed my short stories, and even asked me to please continue them as larger works. The feeling is so gratifying, and the fact that the stories I’ve created myself are loved by others is a truly fantastic experience. I already create comics in my free time, but my goal would be to have my own published comic. I want to develop my style as an artist, create at least one completed comic, and gather people who would be interested in my work so that I can grow to create bigger stories and have them viewed by a wide audience.
