Ever since I was little, I would watch any and every baking show that aired on television. Watching people like Chef Duff from Ace of Cakes, Buddy Valastro from Cake Boss, and Katherine & Sophie from DC Cupcakes inspired me to find my true passion: baking. My grandmother helped me find my passion by introducing me to the world of baking. Her favorite thing to make is a family tradition called “Black Bottom Cupcakes”. These chocolate and cream cheese cupcakes are simple to make, but showed me how much I love to bake and where my dreams were for my future career.
My future is fast approaching, which has made me think a lot about where I want to go with a career as a pastry chef. Living in the 20th century makes working in the culinary field harder than ever, but it is full of endless opportunities. Food trucks are a recent trend, and have sparked a dream within me. I’ve always dreamed of opening up a business of my own. Opening up a cupcake food truck is an aspiration that I would love to pursue after I graduate culinary school. It’s hard for some people to eat cupcakes because of their dietary needs, so I want to own a cupcake food truck that sells vegan and gluten-free cupcakes that are equally as delicious as regular cupcakes would be. I want my cupcakes to show the world that cupcakes can be delicious and healthy and no one has to sacrifice their health to eat one.
