I would be an Anesthesiologist Assistant because it’s amazing how various medications can control the entire body. Anesthesia is tedious and detail-oriented which is why I choose this field. Today’s anesthetic medications can cause patients to have allergic reactions, long post-surgery recovery time, and multiple side effects. I would change the world by discovering new anesthetic medications that can benefit patients. The new anesthetics I would create will benefit the patients overall with fewer bodily reactions pre-surgery, during surgery, and post-surgery, it will possess less recovery time for the patient post-surgery, and the it will have fewer side effects once administered. I would make my dream a reality by attending Nova Southeastern University’s Anesthesiologist Assistant Master’s program. The steps taken to reach my future goals were taken while attending Nova Southeastern University. During my freshman year I knew I wanted to go into the anesthesia field and achieve my set goals. I began shadowing anesthesiologist and anesthesiologist assistants to obtain knowledge on every anesthetic administered, where it travels, how it affects the body, how to reverse anesthetics that patients reacted to, how to use the medical equipment to measure and administer the medication and to monitor the patients. I have also volunteered at multiple hospitals in the Operating Room, and the Outpatient and Recovery Center to gain experience in the anesthesia field from 2012-2013. Once I graduate from Nova Southeastern University with my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology I will continue onto the Anesthesiologist Assistant Master’s program.
