I believe everyone has the ability to sing … some better than others, of course, -- but regardless, I believe every voice can make a beautiful sound. I believe learning to sing requires team work: with the proper instruction and learning tools from me, the instructor, and with the dedication (practice, practice, practice) from you, the student, a well-rounded singer can emerge.

I began singing when I was five years old in church. I continued singing exclusively inspirational music until I was a teenager. At that time, in addition to the second soprano part I sang in a five-part harmony
a Capella (without instrumental accompaniment) Gospel group, I also sang in a couple of bands (Rhythm and Blues, and Jazz). My undergraduate studies were completed at the American University, where I majored in Communications (B.A.), and minored in Music, voice being my instrument. Soprano Belinda L. is quickly emerging as a sought-after performer both in opera and as a recitalist. Her performances have been described as “mesmerizing” and her crystal clear voice is full of a “beauty and sensitivity that makes her an immediate stand out.” Most recently, Belinda has appeared on the stage of Peabody Opera as Euridice in Gluck's Orfeo. Past roles include leads from Cosi fan tutte (2010), Die Zauberflöte (2010), Rigoletto (2010), Gilbert &Sullivan's Trial by Jury (2009), Lakme (2009), Le nozze di Figaro (2009), and Don Giovanni (2008). Equally in demand on the concert stage, Belinda has sung the soprano solos in Faure's Requiem and Handel's Messiah.

Prior to her studies at the Peabody Institute, Belinda attended the University of California, Irvine, studying voice under the tutelage of Dr. Darryl Taylor. With almost 20 years of music and theater related experience, and over 10 years as a vocal coach, I start each day fresh with a desire to pass on my passion for the arts.

I have acquired my Bachelor of Music Degree in Voice Performance from Mason Gross School of the Arts in 1997, and am currently working towards my Master of Secondary Education Degree with a proposed graduation date of May 2011. Along with my traditional schooling, I have taken several Master Classes in Acting Technique and Voice-over.

As a versatile individual, I have had the opportunity to hold a number of professional roles including Drama Teacher, Modeling and Television Instructor, and Private Vocal Coach. I have directed, choreographed, musical directed, and coached many individuals and groups within multiple organizations and age levels. Through these experiences, I have been fortunate enough to educate a diverse group of students, who functioned below-, on-, and above grade level.
