I offer recording service to all students which support the learning of the instrument and give them valuable studio experience time in a controlled way.

About Paul

Hi! My name is Paul and I'd love to share the joy of playing the guitar with you! I have been a professional musician and teacher for over 20 years. I know much about playing the guitar and being an artist. I am passionate about music, which is why lessons with me are so fun. I know how to customize a program for the motivated student that will bring out the potential of the student at all levels. I will give the student a complete and practical program for advancement and help he or she discover their own talents at a pace that works for them. I even on occasion will conduct blues jams and other challenges such as recording and how to do a You Tube video production that will give the student a chance to use their developing skills by themselves and with others. Great Teacher

I played a little guitar throughout my life but was lacking an understanding of how the instrument works. I found myself strumming a few cords here and there but never with focus or improvement. After only three lessons with Paul, I'm now jamming to rock and the blues!Paul was quickly able to access my level of playing and I'm now understanding how the fretboard works and most importantly having lots of fun during lessons and practice. He teaches with passion and doesn't simply open a book but rather instills his lifelong experience and philosophy into lessons. Many can teach the mechanics of guitar but with Paul, you'll also understand the soul.

Paul Rocks !!

I just had my 2nd lesson with Paul and felt inspired to write a review. I have wanted to learn guitar for many, many years now. In the past, I have always gotten frustrated -or bored- and gave up before I ever even learned a chord. Our 1st lesson, Paul started me with some very basic mechanics. It was just the right amount of information to keep me interested and challenged but not so much that I was overwhelmed the 1st week. From just 15 -30 minutes a day of practicing, I have already gained some flexibility in my fingers and am beginning to have a "feel" for the instrument. I have seen more improvement and learned more from Paul and the exercises he has given me in just 2 lessons than I have collectively ever learned from any other teacher in the past or any book or online tutorial. His knowledge of the instrument, as well as music theory, is vast and he knows how to break it down into digestible bits for maximum benefit to the student. So I am not only learning to play guitar, I am also being introduced to music theory in a very easy to understand manner. He is very patient and creates a safe and supportive environment in which to learn comfortably. I am SO glad I found him!!! His way of teaching really works or me ~ I feel hopeful, inspired and motivated for the first time ever in attempting to learn this instrument. Thank you Paul and Thank You Take Lessons !!

Guitar
Great teacher, large knowledge of many genres.

Paul is an overall great teacher. Before I took lessons with him, I knew next to nothing about playing guitar. I might have known the "box" minor pentatonic scale and possibly aeolian as a mode. Then I started taking lessons with him for Metal, my personal genre of choice and I started learning at a far more accelerated rate. Fast forward to about 9 months ago (January 2012) and I'd also grown an interest in Jazz. Fortunately Paul is an excellent teacher in both genres and helped my tastes (in both) genres develop and now he teaches me in Jazz. I even went to the Berklee school of music five week summer program (I'm to young to apply to the school's full time program) and thrived there. I recently got my report card for the class and his extensive teaching of how to play guitar from playing jazz chords to complex music theory (we're learning about chromatic harmony with the use of secondary dominants and tritone substitutions) helped me get only A's and B's. The areas where I got A's include classes such as high level theory, ensemble classes, ear training and genre specific guitar labs. I only got B's in my reading and chord labs, my reading which has always been poor, and my chord lab which involved nothing but right handed chord charts (I'm a left handed guitarist). I dont think I would have been able to get these grades if i had a different teacher or were self-taught, even with my music classes I'd taken at school I was always ahead of the rest of the class thanks to my extensive knowledge of theory with Paul. Paul comes to my house, which makes getting ready for my lesson as easy as turning my amp onto standby for the Tubes to warm up.

Wonderful Teacher, Amazing Experience

One of the first things I did upon my arrival in Los Angeles was sign up for singing lessons with Alex. I had never taken a singing lesson before in my life, was extremely self-conscious, and had very little faith in my ability to sing. He never allowed me to doubt myself - from the very first lesson he developed not only my music and singing education, but my confidence and self-esteem as well. He cares about his students, is extremely knowledgeable, and is a terrific instructor. No matter what your level of musical experience and knowledge, a person couldn't ask for a better teacher than Alex.

Alex has developed a unique strategy in teaching my son who has visual impairment and autism. He sees my son's potential in classical music, and he also sees that my son's disabilities may impact his learning. He engaged my son to a dialogue of keyboards: he plays Fur Elise on his keyboard, and challenges Anthony to find the last notes on his baby keyboard. My son, who was fumbling with the keys the entire time while listening intently to Alex's version of Fur Elise, stepped up to the plate and produced the last notes of the piece. My son is very happy going to his classical piano lesson, because he knows his teacher understands him deeply as an artist.

I began my love affair with recording when I was a 14 year old kid playing around with ADAT tapes. Digital audio recording was a focus of mine while attending the Evergreen State College. I have been working in Logic Pro since 2006 and since then have produced/recorded many various projects.

About Peter

Hello! My name is Peter. When I was a toddler, I would sit on my dad's lap as he played piano, fascinated by the sound he created. I knew then that I wanted to become a musician. I began to study the guitar, bass, and drums relentlessly, recording my own little demos on an ADAT recorder. Since then, music has allowed me the chance to travel the US, both as a performer and a recording artist/engineer. I began teaching guitar just after graduating from the Evergreen State College in 2006. Since then, I have taught ever age imaginable and have even taught full classrooms of 20+ students. Now, here in beautiful Los Angeles, I am excited to meet new students and share in the discovery of music.

Ability to successfully play on a record and working with the engineers to make sure you are getting the sound you want.

About Zach

I have been teaching trumpet, music theory, jazz harmony, jazz piano, and music composition to students of all ages since late 2008. I work very well with young, beginning students as well, and can teach all levels.

Working at UCLA for my degree in music performance has taught me what it takes to be a good teacher, and I am patient, understanding, and believe there's no greater feeling than watching my students flourish. I like to take the time to get to know my students, and plan lessons around their individual needs, rather than plug them into a system set in stone. I have a routine I do, that I will start students with, but am very open to modification based on student needs/desires.

I perform jazz professionally in Los Angeles, and have spent time touring in playing in ...
