Chris A. Coplay, PA

Subjects Taught

Bass Guitar, Guitar, Pro Tools Software

About Me

Ever wanted to learn how to play the guitar but couldn't motivate yourself to do so or had trouble finding the right instruction for you? Try a private lesson with Chris and make it a fun experience. Chris is a well-rounded composer, performer, and instructor of music.

I have experience teaching from ages 5-adults in all different styles and am in my last year at Moravian College as a double major in music composition and jazz performance. Depending what you want, lessons can easygoing and relaxing, but could also be theory-intensive, involve prep-work for auditions, and lead to improvising and composition (most importantly, they will be fun and motivating!). Lessons are given at my private studio in Coplay, PA. If you are within 3 miles from my studio, I am willing to travel to you.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons will range from warm ups, songs (of student's choice after basics are learned), chords (which usually will relate to the songs students are working on), and reading exercises. Basic scales will be discussed and if students are interested in learning how to solo and improvise, scales and arpeggios would be a regular part of lessons.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Student must provide his/her own guitar and a sheet music notebook. An amp is available for use for electric guitars.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide my own guitar and whatever I plan for the lesson. Students are expected to have their own guitar, music stand, sheet music book, and occasionally I will recommend a book to buy (especially in beginning stages)

*** Specialties ***
I have a unique teaching and playing style. I have a modern rock/pop approach to the instrument and also am musically trained in a traditional jazz and classical style.

Jacquelyne Y. Bath, PA

Subjects Taught

Baking, Cooking, Fitness, Nutrition, Piano, Singing, Songwriting

About Me

As a young child, Jacquie began to show interest in both piano and voice. Coming from a musical family tree, her father began teaching her beginner piano as well as vocal harmony through original children compositions. She began her formal piano training at age 8 and continued to study for the next 5 years. At this time she also began writing music and recording her compositions in the family recording studio.

Around the age of 12, Jacquie began her training in classical voice. She is well versed in all styles from Opera to Pop and has the unique ability to train others to accomplish their musical goals. As a Coloratura Soprano she has starred in many productions and won prestigious vocal competitions throughout the USA and Europe. Jacquie is an accomplished Contemporary Songwriter and Recording Artist which has caught the eye of quite a few National Recording Companies. In the Summer of 2000 she toured throughout Tuscany, Italy as a featured soloist with SSMA with an Orchestral Ensemble. While in college she minored in Piano Performance and majored in Vocal Performance.

Jacquie began teaching at the age of 16 from her family's music store in beginner piano and voice where she learned the art of being an private instructor. Since then she has taught at other prestigious Music Schools and has trained students of all ages to the advanced level. She prides herself on the ability to be able to customize each lesson to accommodate both the student's wants and needs. She has trained many students who have gained successful entrance into LVPA Charter High School, Community Theaters and highly acclaimed competitions such as "American Idol." In 2005 she acquired a membership with NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing).

Come have FUN with Jacquie, she would love to have the opportunity to guide you or your children through a musical journey!

As a private instructor Jacquie believes that lessons can be both FUN and rewarding. She holds her students accountable for practicing and preparing for the next week's lesson by setting goals and providing techniques in order to be successful. Throughout the lesson she will give praise for the students accomplishments as well as give constructive feedback for improvement. She prefers to teach from the Alfred's Piano Library for Piano, recommends Theory, Harmony & Solfege, as well as materials for the students choice of Musical and Vocal style. It is also recommended to bring a notebook, binder and personal MP3 device in order to prepare for the next week's lesson. Within the first 3-6 months a student will have learned the beginning techniques for either piano or voice and have quite a few songs added to their repertoire.

Jacquie's studio has a comfortable seating area for parents to observe the lesson if desired. She also has a full size digital studio piano, recording studio, stereo, and other musical necessities to accommodate each and every lesson professionally.

All styles from Opera to POP!
Experience with teaching young children, special needs (physically/intellectually disabled), and people who are tone deaf.

Mark P. Northampton, PA

Subjects Taught

Music Performance, Music Theory, Songwriting, Violin

About Me

Hello all, my name is Mark P.

I have been playing Violin for 13yrs, studying with teachers
from many prestigious schools:  Mannes,
Juilliard, Curtis, St. Petersburg and Moscow Conservatory.  In high school, I participated in all of the
PMEA string festivals, making it all the way to All-Easterns Honors Ensemble.  I performed with the Philadelphia Youth
Orchestra from 2004-2007.

I went to Mannes the NewSchool for Music for a year and a
half, studying with Ann Setzer.  Though I
did not find my passion in the Classic Conservatory, I transferred to Mansfield
University and made friends that have the same modern ambitions.  In Mansfield University, I still went through
a classical regime, but also studied jazz and contemporary with friends and on
my own.  Through this experience, I became
fantasized with the Ipad as a musical instrument.  The Ipad made it very simple to learn theory
and to experiment with many sounds, which has helped me with all my
song-writing.

*** Lesson Details ***
From my experience with teaching students before and during
college, I enjoy seeing my student smiling and laughing.  It brings the warmest feelings to see any
student of mine enjoy playing music.  The
catch is once I notice my student not practicing within several lessons, even
through several approaches, then I discuss what is it that my student wants to
gain with her/his musical career/hobby.
I believe every student has the drive to learn and do great things; it
is the student’s ambition and motivation to drive her/himself to be as
successful as she/he can be.

With my approach as a violinist, I center my attention
towards the bow (whether you are a righty or lefty) because it is the most
vital part of learning violin or any bowed instrument than that of any other
stringed instrument.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Student should have a violin. If not, I know reputable makers in Philadelphia and NYC.
I also provide in lessons IPADS for theory purposes and songwriting; if the student has one, that is a big bonus.

*** Specialties ***
All genres and methods vary depending on the student.
