I am a professional musician who enjoys helping young people reach their musical goals. I perform regularly as a solo act and play with a band at various hotels in Chicago. I went to Millikin University in Decatur for music where I toured the country and played and sang in the top ensembles. I also studied at the Music Industry Workshop in Chicago for music production and engineering. Originally from Indiana, David has been teaching music in both the private and public school sectors for 12 years. Getting his start as a drumline instructor with only 4 students, David soon expanded his teaching to include both guitar and piano, which he studied under Frank Puzzulo (of Miles Davis' group) at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.
Upon graduating Ball State, David moved to Colorado to study jazz and classical music with Dr. Douglas Walter, an accomplished percussionist who is known for his versatility and multiple percussion talents. As a requirement for my degree, I have been able to learn various instruments of all the different instrument families. However, my primary instrument is flute, which I have been playing for almost 15 years. I started taking private lessons 5th grade. I received four years of formal university flute instruction from highly regarded flute instructors. I have taught flute students ranging from third grade to twelfth grade. One of my secondary instruments is piano. I received four years of college instruction for piano.
