About Aaron

Berklee College of Music graduate, Aaron M., has been teaching students of all ages for over 12 years. "I love watching young musicians grow into seasoned players and have had tremendous success with all my students. I believe that learning songs and playing music is a critical element in the learning process of becoming a good drummer/pianist, and musician. This is why I bring a powered PA speaker, mp3 player, and (sometimes) a guitar to my lessons for the student to play along with and learn familiar songs. Over the years I've learned to strike a balance between Reading/Rudiments and Playing/having fun, so as to maintain students interests and growth." *** Lesson Details *** Music lessons in the comfort of your home! My boys, ages 7 & 5, started piano lessons with Aaron a year ago. He has taught them technique & theory all while using songs they boys love. There are days that the boys are not the most cooperative. Aaron is amazingly patient and persistent in getting the boys to do their lessons. I really appreciate and have learned from this patience when it comes to the nightly practicing. I am pleased that the boys have been working with a male teacher and I think it really helps them relate to the music and the lessons. If you are looking for a patient yet knowledgeable piano teacher, I would definitely recommend Aaron.

I am a professional singer and actress with opera and musical theater credits. Singing is my passion! I love to sing, and I LOVE to teach others to sing! The human voice is the most natural instrument of all, and helping others to bring out the beauty of the natural instrument that lies within them is something to which I am very devoted. I like to make students feel comfortable and at ease in lessons, and you will find that I am very warm and friendly! Every student is unique, with their own strengths, their own areas for improvement, and their own preference for certain styles of singing. I can help you find what style makes your heart sing! I took drum lessons from Jon U. for a little over a year, and loved it. The only reason our lessons stopped is because he moved.

On our first day, Jon's first question to me was, "What do you hope to learn from me and these lessons?" I couldn't read music and I had no rhythm, and that's all I hoped to learn. I was in my forties, and wanted this to be a hobby; it was never going to be anymore than that, but Jon didn't treat this as boring or a waste of his time.

Jon was patient, professional, fun. And he was a *teacher.* Each time I mastered an assignment, he'd write me a more difficult one, and I learned more about music and became a better player than I ever thought I would.

Jon isn't just qualified to teach the mechanics. He has a Ph.D., and my favorite part of our lessons was simply discussing what's "behind" the playing: the theory behind it; what it means; viewing and contemplating what music is and what it means to us. How it changes us.

Good musicians don't always make the best instructors, but Jon U. is one of the rare ones. I can't recommend him highly enough.

I took lessons with Jonathan for about 2 years. I had never played the drums before and he did a great job of teaching me. His teaching style is great. He manages to make the dry stuff fun and keep your attention, and he is very willing to change up his plans to help you get to your goals.

The atmosphere during lessons is great as well. Taking lessons with Jon is very comfortable and relaxing, so it becomes very easy to open up and really get into the drumming.

Couldn't recommend lessons with him any more.

I have enjoyed my lessons with Ashley because:

1. Pace of instruction is perfect for my level (beginner) and available practice time (limited).
2. Ashley isn't simply teaching me how to play a song; rather she is improving my technique in this critical period where bad habits can still be changed.
3. Always on time (granted instruction is at her location but none the less this is appreciated).

About Josh

Hi, I'm Josh. I'm going to put everything on the table and tell you that I'm a music school drop out. I dropped out because I had an opportunity to perform in a band that had a lot of potential. With my time in that band, I made strides in my career on the instrument I was playing, the Chapman Stick. I've been playing guitar longer than the Stick, and I wouldn't have told you about my college experience if I wasn't completely confident in my abilities to deliver quality instruction on Stick, guitar, intermediate bass, beginning piano and music theory. I've studied under some of the best musicians in the world, and have proven my abilities by becoming the youngest man to receive an artist feature and sponsorship from the company that makes the Chapman Stick, as well as teaching at ...
