I am completely dedicated to helping my students find their body's full potential. I love exploring ways to work with each person's anatomy and make a technique, a movement, really work for the individual.
I graduated Suma Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance from Marygrove College in Detroit and also hold the certification of Yoga Alliance Registered Teacher 200 Hour Training. I'm very focused on alignment and anatomy, and helping my students to really understand their bodies and how to use them for maximum performance and healthful longevity.

Tutoring has been a major part of my life for over 7 years and I love it. Seeing the excitement in a student's eyes when they finally get something they've struggled with is why I do what I do. My strength is in getting to know the way a student learns best and finding techniques that support that style and help the student grow.
I have experience working with mild autism and have multiple references if interested.

A brief biography:
At an early age I discovered a love for teaching and assisting others in the performance field. Having discovered the ability to sight-read piano music when I was in Elementary school, I began to accompany singers and musical productions. My interest in performing on stage revealed my love for acting and dance. Intensely pursing dance, I have a wealth of knowledge from many top-leading dance schools throughout the USA. My experience progressed into performing on Broadway, as well as at Radio City Music Hall, and other venues definitive of the pinnacle of the stage performance entertainment industry. Each experience has culminated in fleshing out the soul of my character, and it is my belief that performance has this power of transformation and illumination. I take into account the person as a whole, and encourage the development of one's own unique voice; through such work, Being will prove to be effortless, enjoyable, and fulling.

My name is Uriah. I'm a Portland native, dancer, writer, and explorer. I began dancing at 11 years old, while in attendance at da Vinci Arts Middle School. By the time I turned 13, I had discovered my love for dance and knew that it would be a part of my life for as long as I live. I then attended Jefferson High School where I trained in ballet, modern, jazz and improv dance. I was on a pre-professional company for 3 years, and had the honor of leading several classes of my peers when my teachers were absent. While still on said company, I choreographed a Modern dance piece, and have returned once a year since then to stage a piece. After high school I began freelancing; performing with a contemporary dance collective, choreographing, and now offering private lessons! I also work as a nanny. I love working with kids- especially in an artistically upbuilding setting- and it would delight me to help anyone with interest to bridge the gap between technique and passion, until they are one!
"Steven is very professional and extremely helpful. He always has a smile on and is serious about helping you phrase the music. I would highly recommend him to anyone."
"It's been really exciting so far! Jordan has been so helpful, so knowledgeable. I could not have found a better instructor and I'm getting better and better every day."
"My daughter's wedding was weeks away and I had never been able to dance a step. With Jenny's help, I came further than ever before in such short time in any subject."
