My name is Jarrod V. I am a graduate of the University of Rhode Island Music Program. I currently teach music in Jamestown, RI. I also manage and play saxophone in a six-piece funk/reggae band that tours the north-east. We were recently recognized as "Band Of The Year" in Southern New England. I have performed on stage with members of the Grateful Deal and the Allman Brothers. I have also opened for acts such as P-Funk, Buddy Guy, the Violent Femmes, Johnny Winter and the Spin Doctors.
If you are looking to master your instrument and learn how to perform on stage, I am the right teacher for you! I feel I have a great deal of enthusiasm and knowledge to offer to my students, and if given the opportunity, I will make a great musician out of you!

I'm a 24 year old singer, just graduating from Rhode Island College with a Bachelor's Degree in Musical Theatre Performance. Throughout college I have worked as a nanny for families in the area. I love music, and I love being with children, so being a voice teacher is the best fit for me. I have participated in many theater companies in Rhode Island, most recently appearing as the lead female role in Rhode Island College's "Pippin" last spring. I have had ten years of vocal training with several voice teachers,so I know what it is like to be the student. Being a student for so long, I know what works and is helpful, and what doesn't work. I look forward to my lessons as a teacher, and I know you will look forward to our lessons too!

Let's see, first and foremost I'm a music lover of the highest order. Whether it's jazz, rock, indie, classical, hip-hop or country, if it's good music, I love it. I take great pride in the fact that when I go out for a run and put my ipod on shuffle, I could end up listening to just about anything; from the Beatles to the Arcade Fire, Miles Davis, Igor Stravinsky, Stephen Sondheim, Phish, Kanye West or Johny Cash.

I grew up obsessively listening to everything i could get my hands on, and began playing guitar at the age of 11. That was cut short, though, when the next year I almost lost my middle finger on my left hand in an ice skating incident. It took 5 years for me to regain the strength and motion, during which time I was forced to give up guitar playing altogether. I never lost my passion for music, though, and in my heart i never stopped dreaming about what it would be like to be a professional musician. I hold a Masters Degree in Music from George Mason University. Since relocating to New England, I have been on stage at Theatre by the Sea, Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston, and The Granite Theatre. I can also be seen on the ABC TV show "Body of Proof".

A native of the Washington DC Metropolitan area, I have performed with the Washington Opera Company, at the Kennedy Center, and Historic Maryland's Adventure Theatre. New York City credits include performances off-Broadway for the York Theatre Company, CAP21, and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.

I have been a vocal teacher at the Dance Studio of Park Slope in Brooklyn, New York, in addition to coaching students privately. Previously, I taught at the Virginia Institute of the Performing Arts, was Musical Director for The Episcopal Diocese of Virginia's Music and Drama Camp and The Snow Camp Historical Drama Society. I have played the piano since I was 5 years old. My grandmother was my first teacher and then I continued with many other teachers. After over 10 years of piano lessons, playing clarinet in the concert band and singing in the choir in high school, music has become a part of who I am. At a young age, I learned to perform, at least once a year while I took piano lessons and later on every Sunday with my church band. Music for me has been a skill to master, but also a gift to share and serve others in my friends, family and community.

In the last few years I have been able share my love of music with others by teaching students of all ages the basics of piano and music theory. I have also directed musical ensembles for churches and a music school, coaching students to be able to perform and play together. Outside of music I teach and manage various programs and summer camps for youth and children.

I started playing the drums in 5th grade in 1994. I fell in love with it right away. I started to take lesson by 8th grade and got my first drum set for graduation. I was hooked. From there I did everything and anything drumming. I joined the Middletown High School Marching and Concert Bands and played with a few groups on the side. In 2002 I went to college at the University of New Hampshire and marched with the Wildcat Marching Band. Drumming became my life and I continued to drum after college, the Pawtuxet Rangers Fife and Drum Corps, Middlesex County Fife and Drum Corps and the Rhode Island Highlanders Pipe Band. Marching is indeed apart of my life.

Other then marching, I did a lot of concert bands. During high school I played with Salve Regina Community Band for two years. I played with the Navy Band Northeast for a summer. I started playing music in the fourth grade. My first instrument was the
cello. In fifth grade I changed my instrument to the violin and found that it was definately something I wanted to persue. A year later I started
on the piano, and unlike the violin, I found that it was easier to learn it on my own. Because of that, my knowledge on the piano has been mostly self taught. I have been playing both instruments going on 16 years, and even though I did
play other instruments, nothing took center stage like the
piano and violin.

Although I have never played in the Boston Philharmonic or London
Symphony Orchestra's, nor have written or composed any CD's, doesn't
mean I don't have a passion for what I do. To me, music isn't just about playing in a large orchestra or being famous. I am a guitarist from Mansfield, MA who grew up in a completely non-musical household, and, for one reason or another, always had an affinity for music. After failing monumentally at piano lessons in the second grade, it took several years before I made the decision to pick up a guitar for the first time. As it turned out, learning the instrument was the best possible thing that could have happened to me, and it became an important asset in almost every activity in which I participated. My hard work ultimately paid off, and by the time I graduated high school, it was clear to me that I had made the right choice in seeking to pursue music as a career.

I am a seven year veteran private teacher. I have taught lessons in Voice, Piano, Flute, Clarinet, saxophone and beginner trumpet. I am new to the Boston area and I’m eager to teach! I have a Bachelor in Music Education from Five Towns College in New York.
I’m an easy going teacher; I like to focus on the students’ progress without putting pressure on them. I have various methods I like to use with different instruments but I also like to take into account on what the student’s ability is and what the student prefers as a choice of music.
