As a teacher I fall somewhere in between strict and laid back. For instance, if you don't practice I won't scold you, but I will remind you that you can only be as good as you work to be. If you don't want to put in the effort you will waste your time and money, as well as not receive the results that you ...

Fun and engaging! She challenges my daughter with vocal drills and positive feedback. She also motivates my daughter to perfect classic Academy Award-winning ballad music like EY Harburg 'Over the Rainbow'. Great use of technology to keep my child practicing with in-home (in real time) singing lesson sent directly to my email for my daughter to listen during her practice. She has always been on time, willing to accommodate date change and extremely friendly. Highly recommend.

Vanessa is a very good teacher!

Vanessa is a very good voice teacher. She is talented, fun, patient, and encouraging. Her classes are interesting - we do a mixture of technique/skills and fun songs. I look forward to her class every week, and my singing has improved a lot since I started my lessons with her. I really like Vanessa as my voice teacher.

Blues Guitar · In studio
I've been taking guitar lessons with Kimberly since the beginning of 2011. At the time I'd had several years of lessons using a traditional method on acoustic guitar and was looking for a teacher who could help me focus on electric blues rock and move me beyond my intermediate skill level.

Kimberly has a real focus on and talent for teaching. My lessons are tailored to meet my interests. A large part of the lesson is devoted to learning her method for blues soloing--at least 5 approaches to improvisation and comping. After several years, I've come to see how these approaches interweave, complement each other and have become an intuitive part of my musical vocabulary.

Also, because I expressed an interest, part of the lesson involves sight reading, learning blues and jazz theory, developing rhythmic playing sense, and learning a few favorite solos. Kimberly has an amazing ability to tab out and teach any song you give her. Which leads to the best part--after 6 months I was invited to play with one of her ensemble classes. While I was absolutely petrified with fear at the beginning, this has turned into one of the highlights of my week every week. It is just downright fun! It's a safe and forgiving environment where you can make mistakes and learn, or try things out that might flop, or turn into something cool. Every teacher and guitar magazine article all point to the need to play with other musicians to develop your skills and this is where Kimberly Allison really delivers. I feel that I could now sit in with other musicians and contribute.

I give my highest recommendation for taking lessons with Kimberly.

I've been taking lessons with Kim, off and on as finances allowed, for 10+ years. Kim has a brilliant knack for being able to quickly assess what is needed to keep me moving forward in my study of music. We have primarily focused on bass with some guitar thrown in. That speaks to the flexibility and patience that this instructor possesses. She will keep lessons focused and moving forward, challenging me when it's called for, all in a gentle, affirming manner. I cannot speak highly enough about Kim's abilities both as a performing musician or as a music instructor. Nobody could go wrong with Kim as a teacher, she's been great!!

Very impressed by Mrs. V.

I recently started taking lessons with Mrs. V and already feel like I'm progressing in my piano skills. Mrs. V exudes class and elegance, and you feel a sense of comfort and warmth upon meeting her. She is very knowledgeable in her craft, and the advice and tips she has given me during my lessons has really helped me with the pieces I'm currently learning. She's very patient and takes her time with you. She also really gets to know you as a person, which I find important.

I love that Mrs. V is also a composer and knows music theory. I have been struggling with theory for years, and she has been helping to educate me on theory during my lesson. She even assigns theory homework, which gives me that extra push to learn more. I am always encouraged to take notes during class as well. Mrs. V is just filled with information and it excites me to learn things I've never know before about piano technique, theory, and even the structure of a piano and how it works.

Mrs. V always encourages students to play in annual recitals, and I am looking forward to playing in the next one. My experience as a whole with Mrs. V has been great. I am very impressed with her thus far. I would recommend her to anyone who is serious about honing their piano skills.

I have been trying to come up with the perfect words to describe this teacher but I can't find anything I feel is good enough, other than the words wonderful and amazing. The way she teaches, and just her presence alone just blows me away, and I couldn't be more thankful to have met her and have the opportunity of her teaching me. If anyone is meant to be a teacher,it would be this person. She is so gifted.. Believe me when I say, if you have any doubt about choosing the right teacher, look no further because you just found her.

Amy has truly changed my life both as a performer and person. She helped me polish my vocal technique and singing methods, in addition to acting and audition coaching. She was very instrumental in helping me pick amazing audition songs and how to really give a memorable performance, even if it's just 16 bars at an open call! Before studying with Amy, I was a bit unfocused and rusty, now I am poised and confident in my singing abilities. Thank you Amy, you are an incredible and inspiring teacher!
