The BEST Teacher One Could Hope to Find!

Elizabeth's unparalleled enthusiasm for life and acting shines through in her performances and teaching style. She shows a strong proficiency in many different styles and on multiple genres.

She's reliable, experienced, professional, and a great lady all around. One of Elizabeth's main strengths is her ability to convey a given subject matter in a way that is meaningful, constructive and easily understood.

I'm also an acting teacher (private lessons and in the classroom) as well as a professional performer. I've found it to be a great pleasure working with Elizabeth and I would strongly recommend her as a teacher and a performer.
James C. Austin, TX

About James

I have been performing, recording, and teaching music for the past five years. After getting a degree in music theory, I began playing with a band full time. In addition to playing all around Austin, I have traveled to places like Seattle, Nashville, and Waikiki to play shows, record, and interview with with my band on live radio. Songs from our album were played on Austin's own KGSR. We also played on Fox 7's morning show, Good Day Austin. I enjoy playing and teaching a variety of instruments and a variety of genres. To me, understanding music is key to unlocking your full potential for artistic expression. When I teach, I incorporate both what I learned in school and on stage.

We are very pleased with his progress so far.

Joshua started piano lessons with James in May, 2013. He has already learned to play numerous songs, and he has learned a great deal about different keys and chords in each key. James is very patient and utilizes every minute of our 30 minute lesson to cover as much as possible. Joshua likes and respects James a lot and looks forward to his piano lesson every week. Thank you James for being a great teacher!

I found when I learn new instruments that the biggest obstacle is technique. For my Beginners I concentrate on technique and rudiments
For intermediate students I concentrate on improvisation and learning songs verbatim.
For my advanced students I concentrate on improvisation of coordination exercises and odd meters and tempo modulations

About Michael

Hi I'm Mike!
I've been playing/teaching drums for over 20 years. I started out playing in Punk and Metal bands. I later got interested in Jazz which led me to the University of North Texas. I graduated there in 99 and boy did I learn a thing or two. Attending such a highly competitive school taught me a few things about learning new concepts and setting goals. I have since adopted a philosophy that yields results and have eliminated the "busy work" approach that most drum teachers use. My main interest is to see my students achieve their dreams!

I'm a pretty laid back teacher. I let student drive the intensity of the lessons. I have a few set goals that all my students must achieve but it is up to the student to determine how ...

I am thrilled to be working with Michael! I am a first time "OLDER" student who has never played the drums. Michael is an excellent teacher and I am very comfortable working with him! His personality and teaching style works great for me! I like his hands on learning approach and feel like I am moving forward at a good pace. I have only had three lessons, but so far so good! If you are looking for a drum teacher Michael is wonderful!

5/5- Mike is an excellent drum teacher for any skill level. He doesn't waste time with useless exercises, but instead shows you how to become a drummer that can creatively express yourself in the moment. Plus he has some of the best prices on here! If you're on the fence, I highly, highly recommend lessons with him!

Michael is a great instructor. I have been taking lessons with him a couple weeks now and I can say that I have learned a lot. He teaches in a way where you learn at your own comfortable pace, and makes it enjoyable to progress onto the next step. His teaching style is amazing because you do not feel pressured into learning specific material, he let's you choose your own songs to play hands on, instead of memorizing predetermined ones out of a book. Before going to his lessons, I had a hard time learning material by hand and simply free styling. Michael is definitely the instructor for you if you want to push yourself out of your comfort zone like I did, or if you pick up on things through hearing!

Matt M. Austin, TX

About Matt

Matt M. was born in Lowell, Massachusetts and found an interest in music as soon as his mom started playing songs through her belly with headphones and a record player. He moved down to Austin, Texas at the age of three where he continued to experiment with toy pianos and banging pots and pans.

At ten years old he discovered an enthusiasm for guitar and saxophone. Picking up those instruments for a couple of years brought him to playing drum set, jamming with his brother and friends, and listening to all sorts of music. His experience advanced in High School as he enjoyed playing in the jazz band, performing at different venues, and catching concerts.

When he graduated from High School, Matt decided to pursue his devotion towards music and enrolled in The University of North ...

Aaron P. Austin, TX

I have been playing drums for 16 years. It is my true passion. We can go over basics like breathing, technique, posture, holding the sticks, hitting the cymbals and drums, and tuning the drums. We can also get into rhythms, grooves, licks, tricks, fills, odd times, odd subdivisions, reading, learning solos, and more! I'm game for everything. We can set up an extra kit at your place or my place.

About Aaron

I was an engineering tutor at University of Texas at Austin from 2006-2009. I graduated from UT with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 2009. I am very familiar with the UT engineering courses (from the beginning to the end).

While I was at UT, I also studied jazz drumming with Brannen Temple. I have been playing professionally for over ten years with lots of different bands. Teaching and playing music are the most gratifying things for me. But I also like to teach math!

I have been teaching high school math, physics, and music theory at Premier High School of North Austin for five years (2009-2014). I am a certified teacher by the state of Texas.

Adam N. Austin, TX

Playing music is awesome, and I love sharing the experience of performance with students. My greatest former teachers made always two things clear - 1) it is important to strive to be better than than you were yesterday, and 2) playing music should be fun!

Whether big or small, it is important to me that each student see measurable progress with every lesson. All lessons are tailored to the specific needs and learning style of each individual student.

About Adam

I began my musical training at age 8, began playing professionally as a teenager, and have been teaching for 15 years. I graduated from Northern Kentucky University in 2011 with a Bachelors of Music Education, with a minor in Percussion Performance. I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to perform several nights a week around Austin, and to have toured the US multiple times during the past two years. In addition to teaching and performing, I have also written many works for concert band, jazz ensemble, and percussion ensemble.

I began teaching private lessons and ensemble rehearsals in 1999, having since taught everything from elementary music and concert band to marching band and college-level drum corps. It's all about sharing the positive experience of performance and ...
