Originally from Tucson, Arizona, Rachel S. has been an avid violinist and participant in various ensembles throughout her life. She began playing violin in 4th grade and has been passionate about it ever since. During high school, she participated in youth orchestras, chamber ensembles and participated in Regionals and All-State orchestras in Arizona. She has pursued teaching violin since high school and began teaching guitar during college. The beginning of her college career was focused in Violin Performance but after learning about Music Therapy and its cognitive, physical and emotional benefit for others, she knew she had found the right path.

Rachel completed her Bachelor's of Music in Music Therapy from Arizona State University in May 2011 and moved to Augusta, Georgia in September 2011. Her internship at the Charlie Norwood Veteran's Affairs Medical Center gave her insight into teaching guitar and violin to our nation's veterans and active duty soldiers.

Music has always been in my life. I took band in middle and high school. As a teenager, I was bored one day, and picked up a music book and a small keyboard my mother got for me a couple years back. Within a couple months, I was reading sheet music, and playing my first classical piece. Later on, I pursued Music Theory at Augusta State University, and started teaching about 10 years ago starting with my 6 year old cousin. Today, along with my 7 year old son, I teach an average 2-3 students at a time. However, I am looking to add to that greatly. Music is something to be shared and a gift to be given. I teach all types of music to all people with a will to learn.

I begin playing guitar at 8 years old. I taught myself how to play by ear. By the time I was 14, I was getting serious about guitar and wanted to improve my ear training.

I started picking out songs by the guitar heroes of the day (Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, etc). By my early twenty's I had become a full time musician.
At the age of 23 I decided to go into teaching full time.
I realized that I needed formal lessons to accomplish this so I studied under a G.I.T. (Guitar Institute Of Technology) graduate.

Once I started teaching on my on, much to my surprise, I began to notice lesson articles in Guitar Player Magazine (The ultimate magazine for guitarist) about the same topics that I was teaching, but my approach made it much easier to understand. My students noticed this to.
