I absolutely love music and teaching piano and clarinet! Having studied both clarinet and piano at the University of Georgia, I am patient and encouraging with both children and adults. I have taught piano in my home for seven years now and have children of my own; so I understand that each person is an individual and has different needs and strengths. I also teach private clarinet lessons and am currently playing with the Gwinnettt Community Band. I enjoy teaching beginning students as well as more advanced students. It is such a huge joy to see a student grow in their understanding of music and gain the confidence that comes with it!

I have enjoyed teaching and helping students of all ages for 20 years in achieving their goals in learning to play their instruments. Educated at Columbus State University with a Music Education degree, I teach many instruments including piano, guitar, including Classical style, banjo, saxophone, clarinet and flute. If you would like to start on the trumpet or trombone, I can help you as well. I specialize in working with the first time beginner, giving them a solid foundation in instrumental technique and musical knowledge, as well as helping those who have some experience on their instruments and who are looking to advance.

Teaching Philosophy: In all my years as a musician, I have seen firsthand how musical training benefits the student. It is about so much more than just learning to play the notes along with your favorite song; it actually enriches lives by fostering creativity, confidence, discipline, & self-expression, and it enhances problem-solving and learning skills that students carry with them outside the practice room. It is with this in mind that I take such pride in teaching! I teach students of all ages and skill levels, and I tailor each lesson to the needs and interests of the student. I help the student to continually set new goals, then break them down into small, manageable steps that will help the student grow into the musician he/she wants to be!

I have been first trained as a professional opera singer as a child in Korea. For many years, I have performed on stage. When I came to America, I have continued to pursue education in voice (and piano) at Troy University and at Baptist College of Florida while seeking other degrees.

In addition to my main focus on vocal training, I am professionally trained to play instruments such as piano, guitar, flute, and violin. I have learned to play piano and guitar to initially accompany my own singing, but I have continued to study these instruments to this day. I have been a main church pianist, wedding pianist, collaboration pianist, and etc. For flute and violin, I have been a member of ensemble groups and orchestra (and symphonic band) and performed on various occasions.

I'm a freelance drummer and teacher working in the Gwinnett County area. I have been playing in and around Atlanta since 1979 and moved here in 1981. I have been teaching for the Gwinnett School Of Music since 1997 and currently have 25 full-time students. I continue to perform on a regular basis with several local acts and work a few months a year with a local middle school percussion section. I received an early education in marching and symphonic music under band director John V. Mazza and had the privilege of marching with the 1st place trophy winning Prince George High School Band of Petersburg, Virginia in the 1969 Tournament of Roses parade in Pasadena, California. During the 70s I toured throughout the southeast and midwest with a variety of bands based out of Panama City, and Miami, Florida.

I have a vocal performance degree from Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia. After graduating in May of 2011 I began my Master's degree in vocal performance at North Georgia College and State University. I've performed professionally on stage in multiple musical reviews and musicals, sung in two select touring ensembles, have extensive solo/choral training and experience arranging and composing music for voice and piano.

I began playing the piano at the age of 5 and have continued to pursue my musical passion through piano as well as through voice. I have two years of private piano and voice teaching experience as well as experience conducting and rehearsing choral and theater groups. My teaching aptitude includes beginning piano for adult and young students, as well as voice to students of ALL age and experience levels. Recruited by numerous musicians for their projects, I've had a great deal of experience in the recording studio.
