About Me

I have been playing guitar for over 20 years, and teaching for about 15 of those years.

Here's a little bit about my playing background. I started playing guitar while in college, and studied classical guitar with Mr. William Andersen for 2 years while attending the State University of NY at Albany. I also took advanced theory, composition, and musicianship classes while attending SUNY Albany. Near the end of my college days, the jazz bug hit, and I started by studying with Albany's local jazz guitar guru, Sam Farkas for 3 years. I continued my jazz guitar studies with Professor Peter Rogine of Five Towns College in NY, for another 3 years. Recently, I've completed a master certificate in arranging with the Berklee School of Music's online extension school. In between all of my studies, I play rock, pop and blues styles as well.

In my teaching practice, I've taught kids as young as 5, on up through adults. Part of my teaching philosophy is that the student needs to have fun regardless of what the topic is, so I have a very light-hearted approach. My teaching also has to be flexible because everyone of my students has different strengths, and I structure my approach according to those strengths.

If you have any questions, please contact me. I look forward to working with you!

Wes F. Atlanta, GA

Subjects Taught

Bass Guitar, Classical Guitar, Guitar, Music Performance, Music Theory, Songwriting

About Me

I studied classical guitar and composition at Asbury College and later more in depth guitar studies rock, jazz, and classical at the Atlanta Institute of Music. I have been teaching steadily for the past ten years as well as spending my time with various other musical projects such as leading worship for my church, performing for various parties and weddings, and composing and recording music for a short film. I use my experience and broad understanding of music to inform the way that I teach, so that my students have a robust experience of all aspects of music.

*** Lesson Details ***
I have a lesson plan that I follow for beginning students to get them through the basics. As a teacher I am laid back, and positive, but always try to give the student a clear reflection of how they are progressing. I find that some students thrive with a lot of structure and others prefer a looser approach and I am quite comfortable teaching both ways. If the student maintains a consistent practice regimen, they should be able to play songs from the radio within 3 or 4 months.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons in the living room with an amp, keyboard, computer, desk, parents can sit on couch in a separate room

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect my student to provide their instrument (including amp if necessary) and any instructional materials required.

*** Specialties ***
*Teachers marked as a Student Favorite have taught a minimum of 25 lessons and have received the highest feedback rating from students.I have had a lot of experience teaching beginning and intermediate students with method books, and have used them to teach reading, theory, technique, and repertoire. Most often, I take a slightly looser approach which I feel allows me to mold my teaching to fit the individual student's needs

Banjo, Clarinet, Classical Guitar, Flute, Guitar, Music Theory, Piano, Saxophone

About Me

I have enjoyed teaching and helping students of all ages for 23 years in achieving their goals in learning to play their instruments. Educated at Columbus State University with a Music Education degree, I teach many instruments including piano, guitar, including Classical style, banjo, saxophone, clarinet and flute. If you would like to start on the trumpet or trombone, I can help you as well. I specialize in working with the first time beginner, giving them a solid foundation in instrumental technique and musical knowledge, as well as helping those who have some experience on their instruments and who are looking to advance.

*** Lesson Details ***
My goal for every student is to experience learning their instrument in an environment that is both encouraging and rewarding. I exhibit patience with the student knowing what it takes to develop new skills and I work hard in helping each student feel at ease in expressing themselves. I have used many different materials over the years, depending on the individual student's needs and desires to play their music. I do stress learning to read music notation so that you can approach with confidence any piece of music that you would like to play. With the proper dedication, every student can enjoy making music in a short period of time, getting better and better along their musical journey.

*** Specialties ***
I have used many of the published methods for all of the instruments over the years. I am always open to any approach that will work for any given student.

About Me

I started studying music when I was 5 on violin. At age of 6 I added piano. At middle school I started learning clarinet and saxophone to enrich my background. A bit later I added guitar. I was taking the most comprehensive classes which included ensembles, chorus, orchestra, band, solfeggio and music theory. I continued my music education at Music College on violin for another 4 years. My family moved to Israel, and I continued my education at Jerusalem Music Academy on violin and guitar, and graduated with Bachelor Degree in Music Performance and Education.
During my carrier I was always actively playing. I worked in symphony and chamber orchestras, concerting with bands, jazz, rock and pop groups. I am advanced player in guitar, violin, bass, piano in many genres and styles. Having perfect pitch, I instantly integrate and play by ear, with fluent improvisation. I have experience in orchestration and composition. I have years of experience in professional music recording as well as live sound. I served as invitational studio player and recorded many music albums.
I am teaching for more than 15 years, both children and adults. I am helping my students to discover the world of music in unique learning environment which we create together. I believe that time together with the teacher should be most comprehensive by growing his/her instrument skills as well as feeding the student with information to promote their intelligence.

I do my best keeping my students interested, encourage home practices and improve proficiency. Every student gets individual attention. I plan my lessons, methodology and repertoire based on background and skills, and, of cause, I truly enjoy my students progressing. I have many students staying with me for many years.
