Guitar, Piano, Singing, Violin, Cello, Flute, Music Theory, Opera Voice
I have been first trained as a professional opera singer as a child in Korea. For many years, I have performed on stage. When I came to America, I have continued to pursue education in voice (and piano) at Troy University and at Baptist College of Florida while seeking other degrees.
In addition to my main focus on vocal training, I am professionally trained to play instruments such as piano, guitar, flute, and violin. I have learned to play piano and guitar to initially accompany my own singing, but I have continued to study these instruments to this day. I have been a main church pianist, wedding pianist, collaboration pianist, and etc. For flute and violin, I have been a member of ensemble groups and orchestra (and symphonic band) and performed on various occasions.
These training has allowed me to start a music academy in Korea from 1990-1996. There, I have taught all the instruments I have learned: piano, violin, cello, flute, guitar, and voice. It started small, but it grew rapidly and before I came to US in 1996, I had over 250 students. I had hired 6 more teachers, one for each division. My students came as beginners and would leave as educated musicians, who entered competitions, performed in public events and at concerts, and sought degrees in music.
In US, I had a small music studio for many years in Alabama. My students have entered AMTA competitions for state of Alabama, sonata competitions, and many others. Some have won, and others have lost. Those who won smiled and those who lost cried, but all returned with good experiences.
Now in Georgia, I am starting to teach again. I hope to offer my new students same amount of care and education borne out of experience that I have provided for many, many years.
Piano, Cello, Music Performance, Music Theory
With over 10 years of professional teaching experience, I'm able to offer a diverse learning experience on piano and cello. Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’m a professional musician and music teacher based in the metro Atlanta area. I love teaching, performing and studying the art of recording sound. I started my music career as a classically trained pianist and cellist. I became interested in music technology during my college years after my engineering coursework introduced me to the science of sound waves.
Algebra, Basic Math, Elementary Math, Math, Pre Algebra, Violin, ACT, Cello, English, Language, Music Performance, Reading, SAT, Upright Bass, Viola
Currently pursuing my Bachelor's degree in Music Performance/Education. I've been teaching music since 2010 and tutoring in academic subjects since 2006. I specialize in string studies (i.e. Violin, Viola, Violoncello, Contrabass). I myself am a cellist classically trained for 12+ years.
Lessons with me will be fun and very interactive. I believe in allowing my students to learn through a "two-way" teaching method, basically meaning that each week builds on the last lesson, and I ask questions of my students and allow them to "run" the lesson every once in a while. The same goes with the academic tutoring. Through repetition and consistent interaction, I believe that is the best way to create a very comfortable environment and fun and enjoyable lesson/tutoring session.
"Steven is very professional and extremely helpful. He always has a smile on and is serious about helping you phrase the music. I would highly recommend him to anyone."
"It's been really exciting so far! Jordan has been so helpful, so knowledgeable. I could not have found a better instructor and I'm getting better and better every day."
"My daughter's wedding was weeks away and I had never been able to dance a step. With Jenny's help, I came further than ever before in such short time in any subject."
